New Life

This sweet little flower bloomed in my front yard last week. I was so happy I could have cried. Springtime has finally come to Minnesota. And, an early spring at that.

I feel I can relate to this little flower. For the last 9 months or so I have felt like an gnarly little bulb, stuck in some deep, dark, cold place. All alone, trying desperately to make something beautiful. No matter how much effort I put into what was happening deep within me, I was helpless to speed up the process, to bring it to light, to let the both of us feel the warmth of the sun that would come. No, I just had to wait. I had to wait while the winds howled and the ice paralyzed.

But then one day, it was time. I have finally been freed from the confines of "bulb-ness". I can feel the warmth of the sun. My work is done, my flower is here. I have a beautiful new bloom bursting with color and beauty. I can breathe in its beautiful scent. I feel light, and open, and happy to welcome any who pass my way.

I look on my garden and feel grateful. Privileged to have nurtured 6 little bulbs, and relieved the dark days of winter are past.

What a glorious thing Spring is!

My Peeps need me.

Happy Easter!

As far as Easters go, this one's been a keeper! It was a balmy 64 degrees complete with an OUTDOOR Easter egg hunt, enough chocolate to make us all sick for days, and a stay-at-home-Sunday to watch General Conference.

p.s. I know my postings have been infrequent, but if anyone still reads this, a comment to let me know you're there would be appreciated. My vanity would like to think there are people I know who find me interesting, but if not, I should probably consider retiring from my wildly successful blogging career. (The advertisers are weeping at the revenue they would lose I'm sure)

Merci Beaucoup

The only "problem" with getting a ton of baby gifts is the amount of time it takes to write Thank You notes that very likely fail to convey my gratitude. (yes, I know that's a run-on sentence)

Alas, I shall persevere.

It's raining, it's pouring, the new mom is snoring...

Reed smiling at the thought of all his new clothes...

Tuesday night my friend Hollie threw Reed and I a lovely baby shower! Much thanks to our very generous friends! He will definitely be the best dressed child in our family! I felt strange having a shower for my 6th child, but it was really nice. (I hadn't kept as many boy baby things as I thought...) So blessed to have such nice friends and neighbors!

And speaking of showers, winter is finally coming to an end here in Minnesota. It has been rainy all week, melting the 4 foot drifts of snow along the roads. We even have thunder and lightning here this morning which only means one thing. We have left winter and are officially entering TORNADO SEASON! (See, the weather doesn't always suck in Minnesota)

And finally, it seems that a side effect of this last pregnancy is that I now officially snore. (Although not as often or for as long as I might like...) Poor Jared doesn't know what to do with me. It has left him wondering how I've lived with him so afflicted the last 15 plus years. Do you think it will last? I'm sure it has something to do with "advanced maternal age".

Song and Dance Man

Last night we packed our whole clan, including Grandma, to trek to the Stake Center for Youth Cultural Night. I may not be able to make it to church yet, but by golly, I was gonna watch my boy do the hoe-down.As you can see, he was the star "flipper"!
Doing the "WAVE" (Authentic Pioneer choreography)
The handsomest par'dner to be sure...
The entire event was entirely delightful, and I was so proud of my growing up boy!

Baby Pics!

I hope posting more pictures will help you forgive me for not providing a witty or profound narrative to accompany them. Any witty or profound thoughts these days are had in the middle of the night while feeding, and due to drugs and an irregular sleep schedule, those thoughts cannot be trusted without first being thoroughly censored. Then by the time I get to a computer, they have vanished forever anyhow.

Much thanks to Grandma Damiano for all of her hard work taking over most of my daily life! It has afforded me the chance to enjoy baby and recover much better than I could ever do without her!

(the pics with Olivia are of her supervising and approving Reed's "coming home" wardrobe, which she hand selected. She also likes to lay out which clothes he will wear tomorrow, with accompanying socks and burp cloths...)
